A dermal piercing is performed using a biopsy punch, which is a small circular blade. This blade is rotated into the skin to remove a tiny piece of tissue. Subsequently, a dermal anchor is inserted into the small incision. The anchor features small holes that allow it to adhere to the surrounding tissue. I exclusively use 2mm titanium anchors, making this device quite small. While dermals have a high rate of rejection, some individuals can enjoy their body piercing for several years. After your dermal has healed, you can easily unscrew the gem and replace it with a different one, ensuring to follow proper piercing aftercare.
